Who is the Empowered Flower Girl?

Rasheda Kamaria is the founder and chief empowering officer for Empowered Flower Girl LLC. Rasheda is a self-professed case study of how youth, with a little mentoring and motivation, can exceed expectations and limitations.

From growing up in a single-parent household to being the first in the family to graduate high school and a four-year university (with honors), Rasheda’s story is one of triumph over tribulation and mind over matter.

Rasheda delivers interactive workshops and talks that leave youth and adult audiences inspired and ready to take action.

In essence, Rasheda is the little big sister you never had but always wanted. Authentic, empathic, compassionate and engaging are just a few words to describe the long-time mentor and youth advocate. For more than a decade, Rasheda has been committed to making a difference in the lives of girls and young women in communities throughout southeast Michigan.

Over the past decade, Rasheda has dedicated herself to supporting and empowering youth through mentoring. Since 2001, she has volunteered with Detroit-based Alternatives For Girls (AFG) in various capacities, including assisting with fundraising events as an emcee, marketing and community outreach and as a mentor in the Lift Off program, which supported children of incarcerated parents.

Through AFG and Intense Mentoring, a program that provided adult role models to girls and young women continuing their education, Rasheda has mentored a total of 6 girls ages 5 to 19.

In addition to her volunteer work with AFG, she has participated in and co-organized five Challenge Day events in the metro Detroit area reaching more than 600 youth, educators and adult facilitators.

Rasheda serves on the board of directors for the Johnson Relationship Institute, which provides couples and families with resources to have healthy and happy relationships, and volunteers as a community & media outreach consultant for the Association for Youth Empowerment.

Rasheda has committed herself to giving back to the community and always looks for opportunities to serve.
